Models provide the most comprehensive view of architectural ideas and concepts. As a result, they not only play a central role as a working instrument during the design process, but also as a medium for presentation: models enable one to volumetrically understand the core ideas of the design and to discover the spatial consequences of a conceptual decision. The models do not need to be “true,” rather they may show what they chose – as a “three-dimensional sketch,” the quality of their statement lies in the presentation of their essence through conscious simplification of reality.

// Models share with architecture the quality of three-dimensionality and thus enable perception from multiple perspectives. Our models are objects that focus on the essential concepts and represent differences in importance. As such, the visible becomes more important than the invisible. The models can be read as x-rays or full-body-scans and show our interest in giving a form to an architectural strategy.
// The models in the exhibition intend to show what is important to us, that is to say, they make a distinction between the essential and the accidental. Various techniques serve this purpose. Some models present a single structural element, others only the form without the interior life.

// In the comparison of architectural principles of space, forces that influence the design process become visible. This motivates the interest in placing emphasis on space and determining priorities based on initial ideas which allow us to achieve architectural coherence and ultimately create additional value.
